UW-Eau Claire’s Tristan Massie is one of the Varsity Journal’s February Profiles of the Month. The senior wrestler went a perfect 5-0 at Eau Claire’s Don Parker Invitational wrestling meet, going on to win the 165-pound championship.
Massie is in his fourth year at UW-Eau Claire, and his second year wrestling in his weight class. His experience on the mats paid off this weekend when he beat all five of his opponents, including Division 1 wrestler Danny Sheen from the University of Wisconsin.
The Don Parker Invitational played host to several D1 schools, giving Blugold wrestlers the opportunity to see some stronger competition. Massie was up to the task though, leading his team and adding to his successful college career.
Massie’s performance throughout the season has not gone without notice. The senior currently sits as the 5th ranked wrestler in his weight class in all of Division 3.
He will look to keep the success rolling, following a 2022-2023 season that saw him qualify for the NCAA Championships.
